Things to do

The Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival is back for 2026 with a great series of races held over two days in August, in Kirkcaldy in the heart of Fife. It's always a special weekend and here are 10 great reasons to be part of it this year.

1. Pick your favourite event
This year there's plenty of choice this year. If trail running is your thing you'll love the routes for the 5k and 10k which take you through lovely park and woodlands, with some undulations along the way to keep it interesting. On the roads you can tackle the half marathon solo or you can race it with a running buddy as a two person relay team.

2. Race at your own pace
Whether you're a seasoned pro aiming for a PB or a newbie taking on your first race, this event caters to all levels and ages. Even kids can get in on the action with the Kids Superhero Fun Run.

3. Enjoy the ups and the downs
The half marathon offers route offers a bit of everything with climbs, downhills and flats - plenty of variety to keep you motivated!

4. Enjoy some sightseeing along the way
The half marathon takes in some of the Kirkcaldy's famous landmarks including Beveridge Park, Dunnikier Park, Ravenscraig Park, beautiful coastal path with stunning sea views and historical Dysart. Look out for the colourful Wemys Ware Cats too!

5. Embrace the spirit of community
The Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival is more than just a race - it's a celebration of sports, wellness, and camaraderie among participants and spectators alike.

6. Visit the event village
The perfect spot for supporters and finishers to enjoy some time on Sunday afternoon. Located close to the start/finish it's the place to enjoy the attractions, grab a bite to eat and cheer for your runners as they cross the finish line - the more support from spectators, the better!

7. Look the part. Feel the part. Run the part
A great way to be part of the festival vibe. Whether you’re racing, supporting, or just love the event — get your hands on some merch and wear it with pride!

8. Support a good cause
Why not use your race to raise some money for your favourite good cause. The official charity partner this year is Maggie's Fife who are celebrating their 20th birthday.

9. Join the volunteer team
If running isn't your thing, you can still contribute to the event by joining the volunteer squad and helping make the festival a big success.

10. Come for the race, stay for the day.
Why not make a day of it and spend some time discovering all that Kirkcaldy has to offer, from coastal views to perfect parks plus history and culture too.
