Autumn is the perfect time to explore Fife. Here are 7 must-visit experiences to make the most of the season.
This special season marks the launch of the 'Royal Winter Tour', a brand-new experience created especially for this historic winter opening.
For the very first time, Falkland Palace will welcome visitors throughout the winter months, staying open from November 2025 to February 2026. Instead of the usual free-flow visits, guests will enjoy a more intimate experience through exclusive guided tours, running six times a day from Thursday to Monday, small groups of up to 15 people. On these days, the palace gardens and shop will also be open, making it a full day out with plenty to explore.
Head to the St Andrews Heritage Museum and Garden which re-opens on 15 September following a major refurbishment and extension. Marking this special occasion is the launch of the first new temporary exhibition in the refreshed space: 'Ukraine'.
The museum tells the story of St Andrews from the early 1800s onwards, exploring the lives of the town’s people through rich displays of social, working, and domestic history. Many of the fascinating objects on show have been generously donated by the community and Trust members over the past 60 years.
Visitors can also enjoy the museum’s garden, a peaceful haven and a cool outbuilding set up as a toy shop and grocery store. Well worth a visit.
An annual pass for an Adult costs £7.50.
For the very first time, Teasses Estate is opening its gates during the autumn and winter months. Just outside Ceres, the estate offers 60 acres of enchanting landscapes, from vibrant walled gardens and colourful borders to tranquil woodland walks.
The Walled Garden and Greenhouse Tearoom will welcome visitors every Thursday and Friday, 10am–4pm, with free entry to the garden throughout winter. Stroll among rich autumn colours and striking winter structure, then unwind in the cosy tearoom with a warming drink and a slice of homemade baking.
A perfect seasonal escape.
