Nothing lifts the spirits quite like the first signs of snowdrops. Between 29 January and 11 March, the much-loved Scottish Snowdrop Festival returns with garden events and self-guided walks. What many don’t know is that this uplifting celebration began right here in Fife at Cambo Gardens, where the snowdrop displays are nothing short of enchanting. Festival founder Catherine Erskine captures the sentiment perfectly: “Everyone loves a snowdrop. They bring us hope at the darkest time of the year.”
Launching in April 2026, Kirkcaldy will unveil an exciting new cultural landmark: a trail of large-scale Wemyss Cat sculptures, each standing over 1.7 metres tall. The first two cats, created by artist Griselda Hill, renowned for her iconic Wemyss Ware pottery have already been revealed. Local artists will paint the remaining sculptures, creating a vibrant open-air gallery throughout the town. Expect this unique trail to become a must-see for art lovers and families.
For golfers, 2026 brings a rare and unforgettable opportunity: the chance to play the iconic Old Course at St Andrews in reverse, just as it was once played centuries ago. The reversed routing returns for three special days on 17, 18, and 20 April. Tee times can be secured via the Old Course Ballot, the Singles Daily Draw, or an advanced three-round package that includes the Old Course, Old Course Reversed, and the Castle Course. A genuine bucket-list experience for any golfer.
And if you're not lucky enough to play the course, you can still walk in the footsteps of legends across the Old Course and the famous Swilcan Bridge on a Sunday, when there is no play.
