Balgonie Castle

Balgonie Castle appears in episode 15 of season one as Eldridge manor, the home of the MacRannoch’s, where Claire hatches a plan to rescue Jamie from Wentworth Prison. 

Balgonie is a Medieval Castle, situated in the heart of Fife, near Glenrothes. It is privately owned and has been restored over the past 30 years by the owners. It’s history includes visits by King James IV, Mary Queen of Scots and Rob Roy Macgregor. It was once the home to the Earls of Leven.
